GriffJon.com Design Info
I thought it was about time to get up to speed with my homepage,
after making so many other websites that were using fun useful current tech, while
neglecting poor old GriffJon.com. Especially when applying to grad school programs
where web skills are looked highly upon, my old site was woefully negligent in its
modernity...
I've made the HTML code much more ...sane... and this lets me change
my visual themes almost at will. Which is fun! A few hacks on the
stylesheet and it looks like a new page! So, the constant here will be
change...
The only promises I make onthis site are that it works in standards-compliant browsers such as
FireFox (my
new favorite browser) (and, as always, in Lynx). If you use IE,
well, stop -- you're risking the integrity of your computer and
your own privacy.
Web.Design
I've been doing web design since I began GriffJon.com in 1994, and professionally since 1997. I have a growing list of extremely satisfied clients, due in large part to my sane pricing (often free) and service before, during and after the sale.
- The bulk of the work is the NetWorker, a perl-based contact system
that manages SMS/email contact management for the whole group.
- I rewrote the HTML code of the site to improve performance and maintainability.
- Guaguanco Tours provides 4x4 style trekking in Merida, Venezuela
- Aprenda Ingles offers modern, dynamic English classes taught by North Americans in Merida, Venezuela
- Texas Home and Commercial is one of Central Texas' most trusted contractors for home and commercial projects.
- TAIM offers a way for Texan Internists to connect in person and over the Internet
- San Marcos, Texas fusion band
- Austin, Texas based women's theatre group. I did websites for each show while I was in Austin.
- The rocking Austin, Texas 4-part band
- My former employer. Site tweaking and maintenance.
- My alma mater, CSS implementation

Web.Programming
I'm a minimalist with my web designs, so I generally avoid programming excepting where it's absolutely necessary. Nevertheless, sometimes you just need a bit of pizazz, or simple logic. I'm proficient in perl, javascript, and Unix scripting.
You can use my cute little ridUsap search-and-replace commandline perl script to
go wild across your files, if you like. It's one of my most valuable tools, if
somewhat dangerous.
I have also custom designed the journal and gallery scripts that run most of GriffJon.com, and I have an
extensive email/cell/SMS personal networking database tool. Please contact me if you're interested
(personally, my gallery and journal tools aren't very interesting, I just needed the experience. The
Networker is, I think, rather useful.)
Computer Graphics
I've done some logo and t-shirt design for various groups, see some examples in the logo gallery
I very rarely mess around with animation. I provided all the animated scenes for "Tick-Tock", created and directed by Owen "Blacka" Ellis in October 2003. contact me for details.
Hosted sites
I also host a few sites I used to work on a lot more than I do
nowadays;
Companions of Evernight, a D&D
campaign world with information about a few campaigns, characters,
etc.
ShadowRun QuoteFile, an ongoing archive of
amusing Shadowrun (another RPG) quotes
