Because Republicans like restricting financial flows
March 06, 2006 ( politics )
Capitol Hill Blue reports that paying down your credit card debt can mark you as a terrorist.
So Deana Soehnge called the credit-card company. Then Walter called."When you mess with my money, I want to know why," he said.
They both learned the same astounding piece of information about the little things that can set the threat sensors to beeping and blinking.
They were told, as they moved up the managerial ladder at the call center, that the amount they had sent in was much larger than their normal monthly payment. And if the increase hits a certain percentage higher than that normal payment, Homeland Security has to be notified. And the money doesn't move until the threat alert is lifted.

Back in November 2001 I paid off a credit card in full (roughly $3,000 balance). I went on a trip and my card wouldn't work. I paid cash where I was and tried to call them all day while on the road. I finally got through. They said my credit card was suspended because I had paid it off. In order to reactivate it I would have to fax them my last statement. The fact I was 2,000 miles from home didn't concern them. I outright asked them if I had left a $1 balance would they have suspened it and they said "No". So I cancelled the card right there and used my debit card the rest of the way.
Idiots.
