reflections for the lost

39. Muses

I wonder often what Muse Rihana tends to, where her inspiration lies.

Two observations: 1. Rihana is not as soft as she seems to be. I watch her practise the sword, binding her strength into each blow, with Sanantha. She has almost the fervor for fighting as Lobar does. She is not as reluctant as she once was, staying back and leveling foes with her light crossbow.

2. I have seen Rihana unclothed more than I have seen her armored or otherwise adorned. Bathing, dancing, storytelling, changing clothes. The spell to break the Arawn dire charm needed to be performed by five dancers. Rihana took the lead and cast the spell on the crowd that had gathered to watch and drink by the large kegs of wine we brought to lure them closer. I watched her try and step Sanantha through the rhythm of the dance. I am glad she did not require us all to dance as naked as she.

Although I believe Rihana to be beautiful, as I have washed (and watched) her back almost as many times as other members of the Defenders, I am glad she did not see fit to help me learn the steps of the dance. Whit had a surprisingly light step (though I suspect Malakon would have turned a better foot), and Thea dances with steps so quick and light that I doubt I would be able to even imitate her litheness.

Even in battle her steps are light and quick, tumbling deep into enemy forces.

I watched others observe Rihana walk out of her clothes and I hope that she plays her hand well and does not begin some kind of terms-based romantic companionship with another Defender. I suspect that will bring too much jealousy into our midst.

Rihana would probably say there is enough to go around.
