reflections for the lost28. EscapeThe guards from House Abrantier and the Wizard of House Sharillius upstairs did not remain shocked for too long, and they raised a cry of alarm. Outside, the two House Sharillius mages turned and walked closer to the main door, which was Firetrapped. Grayn had been waiting for this, and cast Warp Wood upon the door, causing it to explode into flinders onto the mages. This was the signal Malakon and Lobar were waiting upon.Lobar and Malakon in two swings each eviscerated the two mages standing guard. The death-screams of the two mages and the explosion of the firetrap alerted the guards, who began running at Lobar and Malakon, distracting them from detecting me fleeing invisibly with Lord Tolmadrin. Once again, my wings have allowed the Defenders to triumph over almost certain defeat! Alial had spider climbed up the walls of the castle, watching the guards march their rounds in the yard around the building where Tolmadrin was being held. Two guards had wandered near the back entryway which we had shaped open, and Alial Bowcaster rained a flurry of arrows upon them, covering our swift retreat. With those guards sufficiently reduced, he fled the scene. Guardtowers sent the alarm quickly through the castle, and once all of us disappeared, it started to spread through the city itself. As Lord Tolmadrin was cradled in my arms, the wind rushing around us, I described what was happening and where we were going to flee -- to House Bedvin, who was still friendly to King Toran. He agreed to this. Whit returned to Lobar and Malakon with Grayn and Labrinnon. As the Air Elementals were forming into furious whirlwinds, Labrinnon cast Invisibility on Lobar. Malakon took a step back and read his Scroll of Invisibility. While Invisible, Grayn managed to run into Lobar, who scooped him up and flew off, with Whit, Malakon and Labrinnon quickly behind. The Air Elementals were unable to track any of us as we were both Invisible and Flying. All of us escaped, without a hitch. We didn't even need the Protection From Evil spells we had cast upon each other. The guards who spilled like ants out into the clearing around the castle didn't have anyone to pursue. A few blocks into the city they were met with an angry mob, incited by Rihana. We reached the horses held outside Lyrenn quickly and joined the rest of the Defenders. None of us were harmed. My Instructor would be proud. Previous Entry Next Entry |
