22. too much Anise
Within moments of my silent, invisible flight into the room, many things happened; A shriek of "the door opens! escape!" and a flurry of movement. I found myself face-to-face with a Chimera, Troll, a cluster of glowing lights, a metal rusting monster, and a deadly strong coral colored, black haired Hag. I did what was only sensible to do; execute a wing over a humming bird would envy and furiously flap and dive my way out of the thick, to dance with a partner of my choosing.Their emergence and attack was enough for my companions to spring into action. Fiery flowers once again blossomed onto the metal rusting monster and the Troll. The dance was joined, and I assisted Malakon in flanking the Hag, giving him the bare enough edge to destroy her after a furious combat. Unfortunately the Troll had been beating Whit around like a rag doll in one of it's hands, and tossed him aside, bleeding at every seam, to attack me. I fought my firmest but it was not I that killed him. Sanantha Had faced the Chimera head on for several moments and had exchanged a fair number of blows until she had to fall back or face certain death. With all of the other fiends then dispatched, the Troll falling in a heap of sword cuts and fiery burns, the Chimera quickly followed also to his death.
Slicing open the chest of the Hag released the haunting image of a female halfling finally emerging released from her torturous unlife. It also revealed a strangely crafted onyx stone heart. Cutting open the Chimera revealed a final piece of framework to assemble a strange magnifying device made of two magical lenses, one small, another large, held in precise distance away from each other. When placing a grain of sand under it's powerful lenses, one could see deep valleys and high mountains revealed and brought into focus.
After several moments of contemplation while my fellow defenders discussed and argued the significance of these objects, I placed one clue upon another hint and drew the conclusion that, from the letter we had previously found, the magnifying device was to be used to discover the means of disabling the doorway of Return into the Real World, and away from the Other. But finding this was no small task.
