reflections for the lost21. The Smallest of CluesAfter defeating Fand, we were confronted with a confounding array of questions. We discovered our way through some surgical area into a kind of alchemical observatory. Except this place was a strange kind of command room. On a dais in the middle of the room was a raised console with a few buttons on it; primarily a Red set of light beams crossing a doorway, a Blue dragon's head, and a green scalpel blade. The green scalpel, seeming like the weakest of our possible foes, we chose first. When the button was pressed, the other two choices shrunk into the corners of the console face and a set of keys with arrow symbols on them, a button with a sun on it, and another button with the symbol of a door. Rihana and I pressed the sun symbol button, and discovered that a wall of the octagonal room we were in had faded away and the bright light revealed to us a strange operating magical area, with slabs of weirdly colored black benches with the most hideous of hinting remnants upon them. With the arrow keys, we were able to zoom and rotate the perspective in the room with little experience. This held true to form in the room where the red bars covered a doorway. In that room we beheld an image of five shadowy stalls, containing hinting flashes of movement. And in the other button revealed room, was an image of our purest of worst wishes against. We saw afore us the sinuous uncurling form of a large Blue Dragon, blinking around from the startling light and looking very upset.Needless to say we quickly turned off that light and set about exploring the previously missed areas of the dungeon. This proved to be fruitful, because we discovered a message by Gwynn ap Nudd essentially telling us that the exit was beyond the Blue Dragon, whom we then knew was named Kostarus, but the secret to unlocking and bypassing the wards on the doorway were hidden in the smallest of things, and within someone's heart. "You released me from my prison. Let me return the favor. You are free to go. The exit lies in the lair of Kostarus, the key in the heart of Griachka. The means to dispel the charm on the door can be found in the smallest of all possible places. You have done well, defenders. I'm sure that I have not seen the last of you." Within a few minutes of discussion, we were to discover who's heart was Griachka's. We had already explored the Green Scalpel room, where I found for myself a mithril Scalpel and Bone saw. Who could pass up the opportunity for a Master worked Mithril Bone Saw? The plan of action upon the Red Light Barred door room was for me to fly in, scope out what the enemies within were, and fly out to draw them to us so we could close the door and observe them carefully be attacking them. This did not work as planned, exactly. A battle plan only survives up until the first blood, afterwards, it is luck and skill that keep you alive. Previous Entry Next Entry |
