Möbius Nacht-Flamme

Möbius was born to a powerful Saedhe Wizardress, the Lioness of the East - his father was the Rhiallon Elf, Starfire Oakleaf. Raised by his mother, without any contact from his father, Möbius began training as a Wizard. Shortly before he was to leave for Torioth however, Möbius's village was attacked and razed by marauding deserters of Toran Rôl's army. Möbius survived the inferno that destroyed his village, protected by some divine intercession. His mother (away diverting a Goblin army) returned home to find her son the only survivor. She quickly discerned who had been responsible, and unwisely (or perhaps not) let it be known to her son. The two Elves returned to Torioth and mother began to instruct son in the ways of wizardry. It soon became clear to her though, that her son did not have the focus for the rigorous studies required of wizardry. He did, however, have an inner power, and she recognized the makings of a Sorcerer within him. So it was, in a very unorthodox manner, that the Lioness of the East taught her son how to draw upon the quickening power of Sorcery. While he studied with his mother during the days, Möbius's nights were spent in quite meditation to the Firelord - not the pale god Ballok, but the very lord of the Elemental Plane of Fire. It was he who had protected Möbius, and now he required Möbius's devotion. Every evening Möbius would be visited by a Fire Elemental and taught the Path of Fire. In this way did Möbius become both a Sorcerer and a Cleric of the Firelord. When he believed he had enough power, Möbius tracked down the marauders who had slain his village. Or rather, he found their graves. Searching and searching without gain, Möbius had sought his mother's guidance. She had very politely shown him the unmarked graves where she had buried them after she herself had hunted them down. It hadn't occurred to Möbius that his own mother, the Lioness of the East, would have already taken retribution. She hadn't however, dealt with Toran. That was still left to Möbius. Being a follower of Fire, Möbius took a very direct course, and attacked Toran in his castle. And the King of Grengon would have killed him easily had Möbius's father not ultimately interceded. Starfire first convinced his son that it was not Toran's fault for what happened. The men had deserted the army and were being pursued to face justice as it was. Toran had not commanded them to attack Möbius's village. Starfire then counseled Toran that although all of this was true, they were still once his men, and he should consider mercy for the avenging Möbius. Starfire's words were well received. Toran spared Möbius and offered him a task of peace - friends of Toran's on the world of Toril needed aid rooting out a cult dedicated to the extinguishing of all flame. Möbius would take some of his fellow Clerics of the Firelord and destroy the Cult of the Blackflame. Twenty went forth into the lair of the Cult... only Möbius returned. The Cult of the Blackflame was destroyed, and Möbius was firmly on the path of the Darkflame, a Specialty Priest Prestige Class of the Firelord (named Kossuth on Toril). Möbius chose to remain on Toril and live the life of an adventurer - and live out of the shadow of his very powerful parents. Some of his ensuing quests even brought him into partnership with the Companions of Evernight. But Möbius sought more for his life, and asked the Firelord to send him a quest of staggering importance. It was shortly thereafter that Möbius's temple-keep erupted in flames, and he seemingly disappeared forever. |
