My name is Evan of Ynis Tor. You can trust me. I'm not making it up. Everyone knows that prevaricating is not something I do well, or often. So please, believe me when I tell you that I have seen things that would make you want to pop your eyes out with a spoon and bury them. I also have a flair for the dramatic. I was born in Featherdale, in the Dalelands of Faerun. I was born on a farm. Our house was on a hill in the middle of a valley. I really liked that house. When the rains came, the waters would rush in and we would be living on an island for a few days. I always liked the rain. But that's all I liked about living there. It was a farm. It was populated with animals and unimaginative brothers and sisters, and parents who didn't understand me at ALL. They loved me, but I know that I made them uncomfortable. I spent most of my time reading, and took every opportunity to journey with my father to Tassledale. It was during these trips that the Goddess first smiled upon me, in the form of local Luckbringer, Lady Marianis. She regaled me with stories of Tymora while my father bought saddle soap. After several months, she encouraged me to come with her to the Tymoran monastary in Shadowdale and join the order. I think that that might have possibly been the happiest day of my life, though I certainly have had some amazing times since then. It certainly was a very significant time. So, I left the farm. I don't think that my parents minded, though my mother cried a little. I journeyed to Shadowdale and spent a very wonderful few years. I learned about the goddess. I learned to fight and to heal. I even learned to speak elvish, from La'thoril, who was injured and spent time recovering in our gardens. The time came for me to strike out on my own, however, so I hopped the Seven Suns trading coaster and eventually made my way to Baldur's Gate. From there I decided to journey to a town called Delmbria, to see their magical well. It was during my approach to this place the I made my first friend in the world - Alleyon du Mac du Mae, an elven warrior mage. He came to my aid when my wagon was attacked in the woods by goblins, and we have been friends ever since. It soon became obvious to me that there is a definite market for the talents of those who have no sense of self preservation. More people like myself began to arrive in town, and we soon had a Purpose. We were to deliver a box to a mage named Tauster, who lived in a small town called Thurmaster, on the other side of Haranshire. My new friends and I headed into the woods, and never looked back. That was the beginning of our adventures. From bandits, to the Underdark, to Illithids and Aboleth,to Auril, to Myth Drannor, we who became the Companions of Evernight have been lucky enough to participate in some of the grandest adventures imaginable. All of us have risen to places of prominence and respect in the adventurer community. We are all wealthy beyond our wildest imaginings. Kings come when we call. All in all, I think I did quite well for a farm boy that no one wanted. But there is still much left to do ... |
