The DeathWaste

The Deathwaste is the strip of magically enhanced desert that runs almost the entire east-west length of the continent. It separates the Empire of Kar-Thone from the wastes of Trall-Goth.

Everything near the Deathwaste is affected by the weird energy it produces. Magical spells almost always go awry here. Teleportation magics always fail when within 150 miles of the desert. What’s worse, every so often strange new abominations come pouring out of the Waste, tearing down into the Kingdom or up onto Târiq.

Its magic is so potent that it has blasted the land around it, creating the mundane deserts of Târiq to its north, and Saelis to its south. These locales, while nowhere near as dangerous as the Waste itself, are harsh and unforgiving in their own right.

Bordering Desert near the DeathWaste

Travelling across the Waste is dangerous at best, and is near suicidal unless one has an experienced guide along. The kingdom of Saelis and the nation of Târiq have many individuals who lead short but profitable lives as Waste Guides.

Rumor has it that some twisted souls make the Deathwaste their home, and know its ways better than even the most experienced guides, making friends with the extraplanar beasts and riding the storms.
